definition: Charité 3R
Charité 3R – Replace | Reduce | Refine – promotes the development of innovative methods in biomedical research with the objective of replacing animal experiments, reducing their number or refining experiments in order to relieve the burden placed on laboratory animals. With the over-arching goal of improving biomedical translation into applicable therapies for the human patient in mind, Charité 3R is an interdisciplinary effort to improve both medicine and animal welfare. Charité 3R will stimulate research in all 3Rs and consequently foster the development of novel alternative methods.
