The Central Biomaterial Bank of the Charité (ZeBanC) is one of four new partners in the German Biobank Alliance (GBA).
Under the supervision of the German Biobank-Node (GBN), eleven German university hospitals and two IT centers have joined forces to form the German Biobank Alliance (GBA) in 2017. This alliance is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and aims to network academic biobanks in Germany through a common IT structure and to create uniform quality standards. This will enable multi-site collections of biomaterial samples to be made available for medical research, thereby enabling the development of new therapies.
The ZeBanC has gone through an application process and is now a partner of the GBA. The alliance enriches ZeBanC
